Dear Family and friends!!What the what?  Its Christmas time once again?!  Time really does fly once you start to grow up :) Every year gets busier and busier but yet, we end up finding more and more fun things to do with the four of us.  This year we managed to sneak in some projects as well.  Our biggest family accomplishment was finishing our basement and we LOVE the extra space.  All toys have found a permanent location downstairs much to the elation of Mom.  We also had one of the most successful gardens this year which gave us an awesome lot of tomatoes, peas and pumpkins! The kids loved helping out there every evening during the summer and they got to be pretty useful.  (Gotta work em while they’re young.)A couple other fun things we’ve done as a family this year included fishing at Yankee Meadows, camping with friends, Tuacahn, a trip out to my Grandpa’s farm and a couple of days in Bear Lake with Cordelle’s family.  The age of our kids this year has made trips so fun and easy, we really should have done more of them.

Well that’s a little overview of all of us as a fam, so here’s a little more on each of us.
Cordelle is still busy working with the Leavitt Group, running our wedding announcement business, and being the executive Sec. in our ward. He is still the best, most creative dad, getting a kick out of the unique games he creates for his kids.  He’s a proud father but has two little kids that just idolize his every move.  Speaking of his “every move,” his physical abilities were quite limited lately because he tore his ACL last year and has tried to “tough it out” for over a year now.  Finally in September he had surgery and has had an awesome recovery.  He can’t wait to get active again.  And who knows, with his new calorie counting, food tracking, health craze he’s entered into recently….maybe he’s going to be the new family personal trainer and whip us all into shape.  Maybe.

(This always seems weird to write in the 3rd person but it seems the most popular way of doing it….). Wendy is doing great and keeping herself crazy and busy or crazy busy. :)   She has done a couple of relays with her friends this year but taken a break from the longer races.  She still enjoys her early morning running though, playing basketball and doing zumba when she can.  She has found a fun new hobby painting/restoring furniture which has included our piano, a vanity/dresser combo for Jaq and a long drawered dresser for the basement.  There’s no better rush than finding a good thrift or yard sale deal you can transform into pure awesomeness.  :)   She recently got released from her primary calling and Cordelle and her have been called as Stake Youth Conference coordinators!  Yikes. Anyways, “Mom” is still the most popular title she answers to and she’s cool with that and the craziness that surrounds and encompasses that.

Seth is five! And a blast.  Because of the late birthday we decided to hold him back and put him in preschool again so that he’ll be the oldest in his class and not the youngest.  He loves school and all the girls that go with him there.  He played t-ball this summer which was a blast and soccer this fall.  It was AMAZING what a year had done for him in soccer. He scored almost every game and actually really played and ran and dribbled and didn’t cry….. :) .  We’re hoping those shy, butterfly chasing, soccer years are behind us. And really the only other thing going on in Seth’s life revolves around Star Wars.  I would say he LIKES Star Wars but that would not do the obsession justice.  We are constantly graced by the appearance of Darth Vader beckoning us to the dark side, the ever present hum of the imperial march, or begged to engage in a light saber battle against droids, storm troopers or Darth Maul.  Its taken him over.  When your son tells you his future actions by saying in yoda’s voice something like, “ahh yes, to preschool, I will go. ” you know you really should cut the ties.

Jaquelle like always loves her brother and they are really the best of friends.  I don’t know if most kids are like this but these two literally could play for hours together.  Jaq therefore knows more Star Wars trivia and characters than your average 3-year-old girl.  But she makes sure Seth has to play his fair share of babies, dolls, and princesses too (although I admit she most often is Princess Leia). But she is GIRLY.  And as a mom, I love it.  Maybe because I was never that way, but she is constantly wanting to do the whole nail polish thing, or commenting on how beautiful her hair looks with this flower in it, or how cute a certain outfit is.  Its really funny.  She is of course full of drama but her sweet little face and long Rupunzel hair is too much to resist.  She seriously is the little comedian of the family and we love it.

Well Cordelle told me to make it short this year, and obviously I have failed to do so.  We hope you will all have a fantastic Christmas!  Know that we love you and are so grateful for the supportive friends and family that surround us.  We hope that you can take a second and feel Christ’s love for each of you as you remember why we have Christmas in the first place.

Love,

Wendy, Cordelle, Seth and Jaquelle

P.S. Cheers to the New Years!
